Dawn Carson lives in the lower mainland of British Columbia, Canada. She wrote her first book Practice Positive: a simple guide to becoming a positive and happy person in 2013. It was a labour of love for her. In 2006, Dawn experienced a severe mental breakdown. She was working three jobs, attending school full-time, pursuing a career in Personal Training and Fitness Instruction, all while maintaining a full social life. She hadn't created the healthy habits of practicing self-care and setting boundaries. Her breakdown led her through severe depression and crippling anxiety. She became suicidal and checked herself into the psych ward of the local hospital for six weeks. She was put on a variety of high dose medications during her stay. When she left the hospital, she chose to seek out natural methods of managing her anxiety and depression. She read hundreds of books and tried many forms of therapy. She found what worked for her and shares much of her discover in her book. As a woman who came to thrive instead of just surviving, she felt it important to share all she had learned. She is an author, podcast host, columnist and professional speaker. Her mission in life is to help others live from a more positive perspective, using simple tools she shares through her writing and speaking engagements.
